If not, then why not? The answer to these questions might just be enough reason why our artists can’t get a full stadium yet.Įxpiration message of your
However, do our artists consume local? from what they wear, eat or drink. If what you provide is the best you can offer, and still you can’t get a full stadium, while foreign artists can, learn from them, take responsibility and go back to work.
This has the potential to render our artists lazy. I don’t get it when Cameroonian artists expect Cameroonians to dig deep into their wallets, spend their hard earned money to show up at concerts simply because the artist in question is Cameroonian. So for the artists, if you can’t fill a stadium to full capacity at the moment, the problem is not Cameroonians, or the fans. If the product or service that emerges meets the standards the consumers crave for, they will dish out cash. The consumer or customer or fan comes at the tail end of the chain. Are they creative enough? Do they have the financial capacity to produce quality and competitive products or services? Do they have the necessary human resources in place? Are they putting these resources into proper use? It then comes down to the entrepreneurs/artists. How much are they doing to promote local products or services?
If such a space is available, we move on to the private sector, for example, private investors and the media. The first question is has the state provided a conducive environment for local entrepreneurs in general or artists in particular to flourish? To encourage local consumption, the work begins at the macro level (the state) where decision making in a bid to protect local producers is vital. We have all heard of ‘the world is a global village’. Consuming local products and services is awesome, but these products or services have to be competitive on a global scale.
